About James Caw

An operator first.
A consultant second.

I've spent my career on one practical question: how value is actually created, grown and protected inside a business - and why so many capable, profitable companies quietly stop growing.

The Story

A career spent building

I launched my first venture while still at university - South Africa's first online wedding gift registry - and the thread running through everything since has been the same: create genuine value, and help others do the same. That question led me into business early, then into marketing, strategy and growth work across a wide range of companies.

At Prestige Awards I built commercial foundations - sales, client acquisition and brand - for a business that had run almost entirely on word of mouth. In 2013 I founded Chrysalis Marketing, providing strategy, advertising, web and copywriting to South African businesses through the rise of digital, building a reputation for practical results over fashionable theory.

From 2014 I built expertise in marketing strategy and business development across regulated financial services - at Sebrio in health informatics, at Currency Assist in foreign exchange and treasury, and in private banking FX. That work taught me how growth really happens inside established, regulated, founder-led businesses: not through more activity, but through removing the constraints that quietly hold a company back.

In 2017 I founded SimplB, which became South Africa's first regulated Bitcoin-only platform - built from concept through brand, acquisition, education and operations. Building a credible business in an entirely new category sharpened everything I'd learned about positioning, execution and discipline.

Chrysalis Growth Partners brings that experience to one focused purpose: partnering with profitable business owners to unlock the growth already hiding inside their business.
